Australian Tidbits & More

A few weeks ago my friend Alan from New Zealand told me about an australian sport called "Aussie Rules". It's supposedly a form of football, but after having him explain it to me for a few minutes, I was completely confused.

If you thought cricket was a weird sport, this one takes the cake. It's seemingly a combination of football, basketball, soccer, cricket, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, and who knows what else.

There's a guy called the "ruckman". The Ruckman is the teams tallest player, and he must take the ball out-of-bounds, by throwing it over his head backwards, a-la throwing a wedding boquet.

Racoons is Scary

The other day I went over to Dane & Jane's and was promptly informed that earlier that day, Jane had been terrorized by a giant raccoon that she found in the bike shed on the bottom floor of their apartment complex.

Apparently it scared her pretty good, and I found this whole thing amusing as I've had lots of my own personal scary moments with raccoons, and sometimes skunks, while living here.

There was that one time that a skunk followed me nearly a mile down the street, staring at me from the other side, mimicking my every move.

Crazy

Today a director in our office came in and said, "Is the Summer ever going to come? I'm wearing my winter ski Jacket today."

My pastor bought a super-cool swimming pool for his daughters, which is sitting in a box in his garage.

All of the squirrels are gone, I think they have migrated somewhere else.

Remember this?

Not for the faint of Heart

Today's little internet game is called "Stairfall" and can best be described as:

A small stick figure man lives on a piece of paper where there are stairs. He stands at the top of those stairs, waiting for you to throw him off. You do this by grabbing his head and flinging him up in the air, to your delight. As he comes back down and falls down the stairs, each hit racks up damage points, which is your score. Along the way as he is injured, ms-paint ® quality blood spouts out of his broken appendages.
