I don't know a lot about Jimmy Carter. My parents like him, most of my Christian friends don't. I had a friend a few years back who was from Nigeria. He was a Christian but because of Carter's great humanitarian work in Africa, my friend said that where he was from, people though Carter was a great man, the greatest of all U.S. presidents.

Interesting perspective.

I have a friend who is pretty much tone deaf.

Yeah, I'm sure of this because he really really likes to sing. I hear him singing often, and in fact, he's actually asked me if I can help him learn how to sing better. He's joined a choir on more than one occasion.

So the other night I was hanging out at a great new restaurant with two of my favorite people on earth, and we got into an interesting discussion.

I asked them to describe my voice…

And they were somewhat perplexed to do it. I also had a hard time describing their voices.

I left it open, you can describe the voice in any way you like; tone, timbre, anunciation, it's all fair game. It proved to be a difficult thing to do. We've since been sending each other emails with the subject line: "your voice sounds like…"

What's the deal with holey socks anyway? How do those holes get in there? Do I have some secret brood of sock-hungry moths living in one of my drawers that I don't know about? I don't buy holey socks. They're not like those new trendy jeans where they already have the holes in them, are they?

I can't figure out how it happens, but everytime I think my sock drawer is in good order, I start noticing that all kinds of little holes are forming in my socks? This infuriates me, 'cause then I have to go out and buy new socks, which, in turn, end up with more holes.
