I had the pleasure friday night (thanks to the gift of friends) of seeing "Othello" acted by a Shakespeare troupe at the annual "Bard on the Beach" Shakespeare presentations.  It's a top notch group and the play was fantastic.  Reminded me of Patrick Steward and I came across this…

Here's something to blog about.  This couple in Minnesota had a wedding where they did the procession to a Chris Brown song, with dancing.  I loved it.  Looking through the comments it's pretty remarkable to see the the division between people who also loved it like me (the correct opinion) and other people who criticized it for a number of different reasons (the wrong opinions).

My favorite though is one comment from "burninhell0966" that said, "I give this marriage a Year at best because they don't take marriage seriously."  To that person I would say,

Sir, you neither understand the anthropology of marriage nor the psychology of humanity.  Clearly every indicator in this video suggests both statistically and anecdotally that this couple will enjoy a long and happy life.  You mistake the situation to think that they don't take marriage seriously because they enter to a song, yet you fail to observe even their slightest indicator of happiness, namely that they were willing to enter their wedding to a song.  You're blatant lack of observational and reasoning ability leads me to conclude that for you to express your opinion on this or frankly any other matter is little more than a waste of your time and the time of everyone around you…"

Granted that's a bit harsh.  And of course I would only be saying that to said person to to make him feel small and dumb for not understanding what the phrase, "anthropology of marriage nor the psychology of humanity" means (obviously it means nothing).

My point though is that this video contains a picture of two people and their friends celebrating a significant moment in their lives.  They are doing it in the context of faith (presumably) and friends and everybody seems really happy.

Most people will look at their happiness and smile; but occasionally someone will come along and try to rain on the parade.  Youtube shows us these interactions and gives us an interesting cross section of humanity at times.

Now I'm all for the raining on of Parades, usually when the parades are particularly deficient (for instance, secular theology, patronizing email signatures, and the ice age movies (or really any non-pixar animated movies for adults)), but not in this situation.  Not at the expense of overt and unequivocal happiness.

My point is that this is a cool video.  Most people will know that when they see it.  But some people for one reason or another won't like it.  And for those people I think you should ask yourself the following:

what ever happened to me?  I used to be such a simple, easygoing, fun loving, carefree person.  But now I'm so cynical and everything seems to be laden with a garland of "not good enough" and "so stupid".  I wonder if I'll ever be able to change…

I dunno.  Maybe in part I'm writing this to myself.  But certainly not on this occasion.  I love the video and my guess is that Kevin married a pretty cool lady indeed.

P.S., i don't want anyone to get to unnerved, if you want to be sure this is fake, just stare at anything but the baby when you watch it (like the TV), you'll be able to see that the movements of the baby and the shape of the baby are impossible (short of twisting off his arm or something)

This is pretty much where I'm at with the Obama vs. McCain issue at this point.  It'll make more sense if you were ever into STNG.

Props to Sarah Palin for the SNL Appearance.  She might not make it into the white house, but after Alaska she's going to have her run of any company in the country I imagine.
