So this is a blog about me…
...Which is an interesting construct because having a blog "about me" implies readership, which implies that people would want to come and read something about me. Why would they want to do that?
Is it because I'm so interesting? No.
Is it because I'm such great writer? No.
Is it because People are bored? Um… No?
Anyway, It's fascinating. I like writing it because it's an avenue for me to get the stuff in my head out of my head. That leaves room for my brain to be in my head.
People seem to like it because it occasionally makes them laugh, or maybe less occasionally make them thing about important things. I guess some of them kind of care about me a little bit too.
My Mom likes it because she's cool like that and it lets her know that I'm still alive and whether I've severed any limbs.
I wish I had a niche for this blog, but I don't. I'm just not a niche guy, unless you define niche as "a passing interest in almost everything with moderate knowledge and focus on some things and more focus on other rarely-defined but mysteriously consistent things."
I like to write about myself. In that way, I'm narcissistic.
I like my writing to have some kind of a positive impact on others, or "self-disclosure is good when it is relevant". In that way, I'm very much not narcissistic.
Translation: I wouldn't do this if I didn't think people enjoyed it. In fact, I keep trying to quit but people keep talking me out of it. So good on them, because I enjoy this. Maybe one day I'll find my niche. And then this blog can be about something other than just "me".
