The O.C. Song has it right

Today you get a nice double feature. A. You get the link to my favorite wallpaper download site (totally free) and B. You get to hear my whiny reminiscence of all things California.
Today I was sitting around my room messing with my computers, and as is often the case I noticed that my laptop background needed updating. So I went to the only site that I go to for desktop backgrounds, which is InterFaceLift. Interfacelift is a completely free site that has, in my opinion, some of the most beautiful wallpapers you will ever see. They allow you to customize the download to fit your screen, and it’s a completely clean site, no inappropriate pictures here. I’m not sure how I found it, but if you like a little variety and beauty on your desktop (especially considering that so many are buying new monitors these days) then it is the place to go.
They post a new image daily, and today’s was a picture of an Oceanside rocky cliff. It turns out the picture was taken in Hawaii, but I was sure at first glance that it was California.
“Only in California,” I thought to myself, “can one find such a beautiful coastline.”
It made me pine a bit for my home. Vancouver is beautiful to be sure, but none of it’s fake coastlines (I say that because Vancouver isn’t really on the ocean, but rather exposed to the Georgia Strait) even come close to comparing to the beautiful California coastlines. I was especially sad to be feeling this way knowing that the Summer is coming to a close and I’m not going to be down until October at the earliest.
So today I missed home a little bit. If you are one of the readers of this site that lives in California (which is most of you), then I exhort you to take this moment to express a hint of gratitude. I think that California is probably the most beautiful place on earth, and if you’re lucky enough to live there, than you ought to be extremely grateful.
Enjoy it, – dan

I am shocked that I am the first from Cali to post on this topic! Come on, people – Dan is right! While I am no longer in my beloved Sierra Nevada foothills, I am convinced that the smog-filled San Joaquin Valley is where God wants me right now. Thankfully, one of the most worship-inspiring places He created, Yosemite, is just over an hour from our home. If the Valley Floor and Giant Sequoias don’t cause one to worship, I can’t think what will. Anyone been to San Diego lately? -Fantastic!
