Daniel Powter is not very Good

I was expecting a bit more from this young artist. His song, "you had a bad day" was like the theme song for this season's American Idol. That strangely feels like an ironic title for a song when everybody's goal is basically to have a good day. Oh well.

His first release isn't really that good. There's a couple of great songs, "bad day" and "lost on the stoop" do alright for me, but the remaining tracks somehow deviate from his pretty tenor vocals to some type of velociraptor-ish screeching that I don't generally refer to as music.

I was hoping that he'd be the next elton john. He's not. He can play the piano like elton, sing pretty well, he even writes his own songs (unlike EJ). But the similarities stop there (unless powter is gay, I suppose).

Anyway save your money on this one, I predict a one hit wonder. – .,:|Dray (spinnin' the tunes)

It’s not really a bad day if you were just on the biggest television show in history and you got third place, thus meaning you just signed a huge recording contract worth millions of dollars. Oh well, the song is good, but I don’t see “staying power” written on his forehead. Anyhoo … miss you Dan. If you’re ever in LA, hit me up. Out.

quote from the wikipedia entry on Powter

“Powter’s hit Bad Day has been featured on the fifth season of American Idol, whenever a contestant is eliminated”

I guess that makes sense now. He’s kind of like the gong on the gong show or something.
