Welcome to the new server, and, by coincidence, the new design. No particular or major reason for these changes, although you may have noticed that every 26 days or so the site would go down for unknown reason and come back up two, or three, or four days later.

That was due to a phenomenon known as overselling your web server which is something that a lot of cheap webhosting providers do. It basically means that they put more accounts (web sites) on a single server (single computer) than the server is capable of handling. That leads to all sorts of interesting phenomenon such as hard disks crashing, things opening and loading slowly, and random crashing that requires the server owner to "reboot the computer". In his defence he was always cordial and explicit in the root cause of the problem, unfortunately that only made it obvious that he was maxing out his servers.

So it's back to old faithful for me. In case you were wondering, old faithful is TCH Hosting. I've been using them for years now for a number of different sites, and if you want to start a web site and have it be reliable, I highly recommend.

The design is one of those things that I kind of came across by surprise. I was so pleased with the way it looked on my site, and apparently so ready for a change, that I decided to do it immediately. If you're wondering where things like the blogroll and the twitter thoughts are, fear not! After a few days of development they should be good to go. Sometimes when you need a change, you just need a change, because – let's just be honest – I look at this site more than anyone.
