Weekend Reading

This weekend, if you're a geek you should check out this post about Nintendo appearing mysteriously in second life. I've never looked into second life, but my friend reminded me yesterday that on one episode of the office Dwight told Jim that he was in second life and that he had made a "meta-second life" inside second life. Then Jim I guess got a second life account so he could bug Dwight. I don't remember that episode, but it sounds funny and now I want to watch it. Side note, did you see the office last night? Jim finally proposed to Pam. Big news there. Big news. It was awesome. I love that show, especially Dwight.
As you should every week, check out This American Life. Last week's episode was ok, but they're doing a bunch of neat stuff like hosting an episode at your local movie theatre and putting new episodes on showtime. So if you ever wanted to see what Ira glass looks like (I'm not sure I do), this is your chance.
I was really moved by the 3/16 episode of 60 minutes (Dennis Quaid; Sleep – halfway down the page, or you can just download the mp3). But even more than being moved, I felt positively informed regarding the article on how lack of sleep can affect so many aspects of our life, so many more aspects than you or I might imagine. Check it out. As someone who is constantly sleep deprived I can say this was encouraging toward the goal of trying to be more consistent at getting a good night's rest. In general, I'm really enjoying these 60 minute reports, and I find that I enjoy them more when I'm listening rather than watching.
Finally, I think you should check out Paul's coffee post on his blog. It's long, but read the whole thing. The man seriously knows what's going on with his coffee. I used to think I knew about coffee, I even had this little "micro-book", but I had no idea it could be this complex/expensive. I wonder if I don't know what I'm missing…
Happy Friday
