Life Lesson # 1

My mom and I have been having a multi-day, multi-email conversation, and as usual in those conversations the topic comes up of fitness and exercise. This somehow let to her asking me the following question:
"Why don't you like Running? Too Jaring?"
Short answer: Yes.
Long answer:
Running for sport, in my opinion, is not a good idea.
It would be like turning yourself upside down, and taking a hammer that weighs exactly as much as you do, and hitting the bottom of your feet with it over and over again.
Why would somebody do that?
I think we should only run for the following reasons:
- To get to the other side of a basketball court
- To get to where a football is going to be
- To escape bears, clowns, and other mortal danger
- To catch food (although note that fishing allows you to catch food without running)

if you ran on a regular basis, you would be able to outrun the bears and clowns and thus not BECOME food.
I am not a runner, as is evident by my general orb-like shape (though I do workout 3x/wk). But my husband is and coaches youngsters to as well. He has had a minimum of injuries, but I honestly think some of that is b/c he is not built like you, DKR (freaky-tall Mexican), or me (shorter, round Hispanic w/ a metabolic need for tortillas), but more like a green-bean. His “fighting” wieght hovers around 160-170 while being 6’. During marathon training he was down to about 150! God built him to run. It’s like that scene in Chariots of Fire: He feels God’s pleasure when he runs. I was built to float & I hear God laugh when I do!
