All Done
Welp,
It's done. I wrote my final final today. Boy am I spaced out. 5 straight days of nearly no sleep, hundreds of pages of reading (or skimming), big study notes binders translated in to cramming notes translated into single pages.
And I am so glad to be done. It's been a hard semester. My courses were just tougher, and to have four finals in a week is pretty unusual in grad school. Needless to say, I'm wiped.
So wiped in fact that although I can think of a lot of profound things after this crazy semester, the only thing left in my empty shell of a pumpkin that used to be my brain, is my experience at the UBC (not the regent theological) library today.
After my final I took over 3 overdue books I checked out – way overdue – to give them back. I was anticipating some pretty nasty late charges. But not $420 dollars.
Yeah, $420. I'm not kidding. Apparently after a book is past 30 days they consider the book lost. So they charge you a standard $30 + plus a $10 fee for processing (per book) + plus a $100 dollar re-stocking fee (per book). Man, I thought blockbuster was bad.
Of course the books weren't lost, and I wanted to give them back. So the Lord came down in a holy consuming fire (figuratively) and used the force to tell the librarian to wave all the fees and just charge me the late fees. Whew. So it's not that bad.
After that I left the library, unable to remember if I drove to school or took the bus. But it was freezing, so I hopped on the first bus I saw, and was happy to see my car sitting in the Library when I arrived home.
So I'm pretty much done. But I'm still going to go to a party tonight and try to be some kind of social, although probably not very intelligible.
Zzzzz…

Four hundred and twenty dollars??? Holy cow! I am glad the librarian heard the Lord. Man. Anyway, congrats on being DONE, Dan! I hope you have a fantastic Christmas. I’ll be in So Cal… Disneyland, actually. Woo hoo – haven’t been there since senior trip! But I wish you safe travels, good fellowship with your family, and well-deserved rest. God bless.
