Young New Artist Makes and Impression (Read the blog before the link)

This to me is kind of cool. I was just browsing around youtube a long time ago, when I came across this girl, Esmee Denters, who had a bunch of videos up of her singing various covers of popular songs.

She was seemingly unspectacular, but there was something about her voice that was catchy. She could belt out some of the tunes with the best of them, even if she did look a bit awkward sitting in front of a webcam.

Apparently a number of internet users agreed, and more, because in a few short months, Denters became an internet phenom, with her videos comprising one of the most watched channels on youtube.

I thought it was cool. A new way for talent to be born and introduced into our society. Without the internet, what would the odds be of us over here in the balmy U.S. (or rainy BC) hearing about a pretty talented singer from the netherlands? Not very good.

She could have tried for American Idol, but that would have just been lame.

Instead Denters promoted herself by the most obvious means possible. She put her talent on display and hoped somebody would notice.

Apparently somebody noticed, here's Esmee singing, What Goes Around by JT. Wait for the end of the video for the full effect.

Pretty cool if you ask me. I've been pretty anti-Timberlake for no real reason lately. But the guy is starting to grow on me. He's clearly got his priorties (at least in the business sense) in order, and it's cool to see him taking a risk on someone that's come into the spotlight in an unconventional way.

So I guess I'm rooting for Esmee, and for JT. Hopefully they can sell some records; that is, if people even buy records anymore. I'm sure i'll pick up a song or two on intunes if it "comes around".
