Girl Got Pipes

I know that somewhere in my brain is some promise to never comment on American Idol again, because I was so mad about… ...something.

But I can't remember what it is, so here's my final take on my re-introduction to the world's most controversial singing competition.

The finale was pretty good. I was happy that Jordin made it in. Even though I pegged Blake as the finalist weeks ago (i'm not going to provide the link), last night it was obviously Jordin times 100.

I feel bad for Blake. I hated the the final song. "This is my now"? What is that? How is the word "now" a noun anyway. Grammar Nazis unite.

The song was bad for Blake but it was perfect for Jordin, and that's unfortunate. But it reminded me how good she is. She's good, I'm talking Peabo and Vanessa good, she just has that perfect songbird voice. I thought Sabrina was great, and Melinda had the best singing ability, but in this competition, Jordin shone because she just got lucky enough to get a God gifted perfect singing voice. It stunk that Melinda got tossed last week, but let's face it, if you're under 60 and you're going to buy a CD, you'd pick Jordin's over Melindas everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. Sorry.

So the final song worked for her. It almost seems like it was written for her. I think she has a big future, maybe even whitney big (note to Jordin: stay away from Bobby Brown).

The judges response was pleasant, and I really enjoyed the Chris Daughtrey finale on his sweet blue sunburst wide body Gibson electric guitar.

American Idol really isn't that bad. Strangely, I think things turned out right this season, best male, best female. I guess I'll even watch next season, unless of course somehow Jordin Loses, in which case I'll say a quiet curse to myself and hate AI more than I did when Rueben beat Clay, which is why I stopped watching it for the first time.

Good luck Jordin, Michael W. Smith has your back, and if you're good enough for him, you're good enough for me.

You're gonna watch the finale in an hour and a half, but I'm gonna log onto the idol boards now and find out who won.

Yep. Welcome to I was right. But it was obvious.

i didn’t watch it. i don’t care who won cuz the best contestant was unjustly voted off last week. anyhoo … glad that the human tool, blake didn’t win. he’ll be just fine, but didn’t deserve the crown. funny that both he and jordin were given new mustangs as jordin is just barely old enough to even drive a car and she dominated blake. let’s just remember, though, who dominated both of them throughout the entire season. booya, gramma!

Wow, I really despise that show. I don’t understand why everyone is hooked on it. Now that you know my opinion of the show (let the hate mail begin). Here is one more thought, you don’t want to come in first place because then you have to sign a contract and travel and support the American Idol brand name. Look at all of the previous top 3 losers and see how much better they are doing by loosing being able to make their own albums and what not.

... and by losing

That song stunk.

There’s no doubt it was the clincher for Jordin winning the game…

Not that she isn’t AMAZING – she definitely is.

Ted, you’re not getting any hate mail here. You’re point is solid, but I think in Jordin’s case it might be a little bit different.

Annie you’re spot on. Jeff, I have no idea what you’re talking about as usual.

The final song really did seal the deal for Jordin. And I’ve never agreed with Simon more than when he said Tuesday night that she wiped the floor with Blake on that song. or something to that affect, (effect? which one is it, i always forget) Cause it was true. Too bad for Blake- but she was better. Melinda will do just fine on her own, I’m sure of that.

effect – noun “it had a positive effect” / something to that effect

affect – verb “I won’t let it affect me”

I love it when people ask about grammar.

Enough already…. Are you back from the holiday yet? I’m growing incredibly impatient with seeing that picture every time I log on to your site…New content please…Thank you

Steph, sorry about the picture, I was gettting sick of it too. I’ve done you good though, the new post is very thorough.
