Some More Useless Thoughts on American Idol
Ryan Seacrest is useless. But he's really good at it.
I think I don't understand the way that this show affects people. Especially myself. By all rights I should be completely sick of it and done for the season until next seasons hilarious tryouts. But then somehow the show has a way of keeping you hooked in. I don't understand why. I'm really over the remaining singers. I don't think I'd buy any of their CDs
Having Jennifer Lopez on didn't hurt things.
I'm a big J-lo fan. I don't know if most people know this, but for a couple of years there (see: portland) a printout of her filmography from imdb was posted up on my wall. Very subtle, the modern day equivalent of my Jr. High wall which had hundreds of pictures of Paula on it (have I told that story?).
Most people probably don't like her, but I think having her on the show just proved how talented and savvy she is. Loved the spanish performance although apparently I've completely forgotten spanish because I didn't understand most of it.
Haley's finally gone, that's good. I think Chris R is heading out the door next, he's just not "Blake" enough to beat out blake I guess. Phil gets more and more enjoyable each week and I'm absolutely done with Lakisha.
The show is weird though. I can't figure it out, but I'm starting to resonate with that Dave guy from Vote For the Worst. I read an interview that he did last week, and his whole philosophy is that everything he and his site are doing is for the purpose of making the show a little more entertaining.
And I think he's doing it. People are slowly becoming Sanjaya Fans, myself included. He's funny to watch, not a bad singer, and he says stupid things like, "Maybe I can hook up with J-lo and we don't have to tell Mark Anthony about it." I'll bet after the season is over he gets offers to be in movies and stuff.
My new favorite is Jordin to win though. The girl rocks, she's clearly channeling Sabrina. – dan
p.s. Man this post is poorly written. I guess that's appropriate though, considering the topic.

i too think Jordin is going to win. Melinda has the better voice, but not enough personality. Note to self: if ever I hope to win a nationally televised singing competition, do not tell the entire world that I am not “sexy” especially when the style of music calls for you to be sexy … second place is a better finishing place anyway, Ms. Doolittle!
