Nonsense

American Idol

I stole this off of the boian web

I don't know why I keep blogging about American Idol, but everybody is into it and it's generating new traffic to the site, so why not?

This isn't a happy time to talk about american idol though. Last night was a disaster. If you check out votefortheworst.com (warning, unsure of content, may be objectionable) they posted a nice little hate letter about Gwen Stefani. I like Gwen Stefani, so I don't agree with the letter, but it does point out the obvious that she didn't really do much to help out the singers. She just kind of stood there and looked pretty, which I guess is ok.

The singers were pretty dull. Same thing as always from Chris R., Blake, Melinda, Sundance, and Lakisha. Although I'm struggling with Lakisha, I'm not sure why, maybe she's just being drowned out by Melinda or I think Gina is better. I think that's it, it's just easy to compare her voice to Melinda and then you realize you like Melinda's better, so why is Lakisha still there? Also it was really funny when Simon said that he didn't like Melinda's outfit. Haha. This point of the show has got to be torture for that guy.

Phil (freaky bald guy) is actually improving. That low tone problem seems to be pretty much gone and he made the song he sang sound really good last night. Impressive.

Brandon finally sang something good. Oh wait, he's already gone.

Gina – Standout for sure. She's becoming more and more fun. It's funny to watch the judges at this point. Somehow Randy and Paula manage to basically say nothing every time, especially Randy. Somebody should make a multiple choice machine for his comments, he wouldn't have to show up, they could just put a tv set on the table in front of where he usually sits. Something like this:

a. I like that
b. That just wasn't good for me man (whether speaking to a man or a woman)
c. You the Bomb!
d. Some reference to something having to do with "the dawg"

And the same for Paula:

a. You look beautiful, you're a beautiful girl.
b. You just need to go for it
c. Just be yourself
d. I can totally see you as a recording artist, or
d. (doesn't say anything, just smiles and dances during the song)

Simon thankfully says something meaningful and useful to say most of the time, his comments are the only ones that anybody cares about, I reckon. Anyway Gina rocked the performance.

Jordin is becoming more interesting each week. I like her, she sounds like the disney girl; on the other hand, Chris S. seems to be losing steam. I fear for him unless he lands some better songs soon.

Sanjaya has definitely got to go Oh, I mean that the best part of the show was when Sanjaya came out looking like a spartan soldier by sporting a pony tail mohawk. His song was horrible, of course, but I'm happy to have him around for a few more weeks, at this point its just entertaining.

So I guess that leaves Haley as the only one not to really make an impression. She's just not really that great of a singer compared to the rest (who aren't really that great either) Oh well, she was the low point of a low show so I guess she has to go. That's my prediction anyway. I still can't believe we lost sabrina. I'd trade two Lakishas, one Jordin, 1/2 of a Chris Richardson, and stock in Sanjaya's upcoming morning kids show with the Teletubbys to get her back.

Whatever happens, at least we get to see Gwen Stefani perform tonight and that…

...will be awesome.

we were only freshmen … good song choice.

Nice overview of the show. I actually had to miss it so it was good to hear your comments. Although I will disagree with you in that Sanjaya cannot stay around for a few more weeks…HE HAS TO GO!!! I feel like I’m taking crazy pills here! (ok that was kind of a quote from Zoolander but oh well, you get my point).

Well, I read this blog AFTER the Wednesday night elimination, and I must say Dan – you almost nailed it! I was totally ok with all the bottom three, and I do agree with you about Sanjaya. At this point it’s entertaining to see how far he goes. I think it’s funny how mad people get about his success, and I think he’s having fun with it, too.

Oh, to have Sabrina back!!!

crap! now we really want to bring chubby back!

Thank you for laughing at me, Annie. I needed that perspective. Vanity, Vanity….
What I’m really mad about is global warming (post to come). ;-)

huh?

“I think it’s funny how mad people get about his success, and I think he’s having fun with it, too”-
If we had these blog posts converstations(including the last post on A.I.) live in person, you would be laughing your amazing laugh at my extreme frustration with Sanjaya still being around and I was thanking you for putting my perspectives back in order – it’s all vanity (remember the Pertler class on Ecclesiastes?). Sorry to be so vague. I really am upset that most believers aren’t concerned for the care of God’s creation, but like I said, that’s another post…
