Simply The Best

kobe

You might not like him. You might love him. Makes no difference though, he's just the best in the NBA right now.

Last night he scored 60. The night before he scored 50. The night before that he scored 61.

Only 4 players have ever done that.

If he does it again, only 2 players have ever done that, and one of them was nine feet tall.

If he scores 60 again he'll break another one of Jordan's records.

And it looks like his team might still make the playoffs

The Juice is on. He's real good. Even if you think he's a thug.

true, he is a good, technical, player. false, he is the best in the game. true, he is a thug. perhaps if he were go get an attitude adjustment, then i might be more apt to agree with your claim.

Dan, I love your thoughts on the NBA. Kobe has that thing that Dwayne Wade and Jordan both had. It could be the WORST thing for the NBA right now….but, man, it is so….good. What are your thoughts on Gilbert Arenas…specifically on his motivational techniques? Love the blog.

THE
BEST

period.

50×4.

50 or more x 4 in a row

jordan hasn’t done it.

shaq hasn’t done it

nobody hasn’t done it.

wilt. and. kobe.

eat it.

He does own the game right now, like him or not, I agree. And he’s seemingly unstoppable.

freaking kobe. thug w/ skills. granted, the dude is good … really good, but i still don’t like him.

Too bad he just lost to the worst team in the league. Go Kings!

someone just got told!

Why did I get told? I didn’t get told. So what if wilt averaged 50 points per game 1 season? That season he scored a hundred and scored more than 50 7 times in a row. I’m not comparing kobe to wilt, I’m saying that kobe is the best player in the league right now (besides, Wilt was nine feet tall, and it was like a high school senior playing with a bunch of 5th graders. I’m surprised he only averaged 50 once).

Also the fact that the Lakers lost to memphis doesn’t make kobe any worse of a player. He still scored 24, which is only 5 less than the leagues top scoring average. The fact that the lakers are going to make the playoffs this year does point to him being a great player though, since he virtually had to play 1 on 5 for most of this season.

Trust me, he’s the best. He might not be the most important (shaq, nash) but he’s the best. If you were on a playground and you had first pick and you could choose from the whole NBA, you would pick Kobe first. Trust me.

nash over kobe. king james over kobe. nowitski over kobe. i’d probably pick brandon roy over kobe. might even take garnett over kobe.

Brandon Roy, on the herd yesterday said that when he first played against Kobe he was in awe. That when he had to guard him he was scared, that kobe was his favorite player growing up, and that he’s convinced Kobe is the best player in the league.

So you might pick Brandon Roy over Kobe, but Brandon Roy wouldn’t.

is that all you got? what about the rest of the players. call me old fashioned, but i’d pick character over skill level.

Sure I got more.

King James isn’t as skilled as kobe and he’s also a megalomaniac building himself a travolta house. He’ll probably have planes soon.

Um Nowitski is a pretty nice guy. So am I. you wanna pick me? We’re about even skill-wise compared to kobe.

And really in terms of character nobody’s really critisizing kobe much these days. They just say he’s focused.

now garnett, I won’t say anything against him, he’s DA BOMB! But if you pick him you have to pick 4 other guys who aren’t any good.

Clearly you boys need a balanced voice of reason to intercede before this gets out of hand.

1. Even if Dan was wrong, the Garnett comment was well worth the pain of reading this string of posts.

2. Boiner – try to detatch your moral convictions from your basketball analysis and you will see more clearly (kind of like when Katie has to think of me when she’s in the sack with you). All of your points are good, they just miss the original point “the best player in the NBA right now.” I hate Kobe too but…

3. Dan is right on all accounts (except the character comment was questionable)

a. Shaq and Nash are more valuble today, yesterday and tomorrow, and nobody else enters the discussion yet.

b. Kobe is by far the best player. All you have to do is watch a game and the debate will end. Watching a stat sheet or sportscenter or this blog won’t do it. He does what he does with entire defenses designed to stop him – and they can’t. The only person to claim such respect is Jordan – who would dunk on Kobe if we had a time machine. But then Kobe would bust a fade away 3-pointer.

mike,

the word of the lord.

so say we all.
– dan

i can’t put on here what i said to nevens when i read his response. it’s a family friendly blog. he’s good, but not the best … regardless of how convincing mike or anyone is in their arguments. one head-to-head battle i’d like to see is kobe bryant vs. jack bauer. kobe wouldn’t have a chance.
