I'd like to thing that I'm a pretty clean guy. I mean i'm not obsessive by any means, but I definitely take a shower everyday and after sports. I use deodorant and wash my hair. I clean the counters while I'm cooking and usually do my dishes right after the meal. My car is spotless inside and clean-ish on the outside (it's hard to keep cars clean in rainy towns).
And my room is generally organized and fairly dust-free.
But then there's the pile.
I don't understand the pile and what it has to do with me or what it says about me. I don't understand why the pile grows the way it does, or how it manages to grow without my realizing that its growing.
I'm referring of course to the giant pile of clothes and other things in that certain place in my room. And by other things I mean sports bags, papers, shoes, blankets, pillow, more clothes, giant-inflatable mattress cases, more papers, clothes, and this morning my guitar (which led me to realize this).
Am i the only crazy one who experiences this? My whole life I've had a pile. It chooses its home based on the way my room is configured. But once it has, its there to stay.
I suppose it's not that big of a deal. It makes cleaning the room pretty easy, I mean all I have to do is pick up the pile, put it on my bed, sort it out, vacuum and I'm good to go.
Except for right now I don't have a bed. So the pile seems to be growing at an unusual rate (hence the guitar). I'm thinking I might be sleeping on it soon.
So I dunno if I'm weird or not. It seems like a lot of single guys have piles. One of my roommates doesn't and the other seems to have even multiple piles at times. I know girls can have them too, but not all do. Also it seems like most married people don't. All my married friends keep their places pretty tidy.
You know, and I feel tidy too. It's just really frustrating to have this big pile in the middle of my room. Maybe if I take a picture of it and post it on my wall. Hmm….

I am married and FAR from tidy. We have many piles. Don’t like them at all, but I’ve learned to live with them.
He will be assimilated. Resistance is Futile.
John hates piles, but we both have them…very different ones. I don’t mind them, but I always wonder why I can’t just put these things in a better spot. Come to think of it, I don’t know anyone without a pile. And if you think they don’t have piles, it could be that they just moved it or spread it before you came over???
I talked to a girl tonight at bible study who has no piles.
Dan, last night, I was inspired and cleaned my pile. But don’t worry, it will return in 24-48 hours.
