Tidbits

I can run faster and jump higher than ever before! I have super powers like never before!

Why???

'Cause I got me some new shoes today. Adidas N Post Gage. I'm not sure what that means, but they look cool, have wide soles (no sprained ankles) and some kind of "torsion" system that apparently does something with torsion. I love me some new shoes man, and I love me adidas. It happens every time. I go to the stores, Try on Reeboks – yeech. Then I try on some Converse which are almost perfect 'cept one minor glitch. This time it was that the toes were bending in a weird way and pressing into the top of my foot. Ouch! The saleman told me that wouldn't go away, I'm glad I listened. So then I usually try on some Nikes. I like Nikes, everybody does. But they're usually either too expensive, or the reasonable ones are, well, almostperfect. But not quite.

So then I'm usually at a dilemma. Either I buy the reasonable Nikes or keep looking. Last time I bought the Nikes, and they worked out fine. But this time I kept trying. 10 pairs of shoes and 4 stores later, I found the Adidas, but they were too small. So I had to drive over to the other side of town where they had just one more pair in my size. I walked in and tried them on…

...perfection. I knew it as soon as I laced them up. And here's the kicker, they were on sale – HALF PRICE! (unfortunately, I found a nice fleece that cost more than the shoes, and couldn't pass it up, so that kind of negated the savings).

The shoes made their debut at my intramural basketball game tonight, and of course everybody on my team noticed them. They were surreal (unfortunately, my basketball-playing tonight was NOT surreal, but that's another story). You know you have perfect basketball shoes when they do two things well, (1) you forget they are on your feet, and (2) they stick to the court like glue and your pivots never slow you down. My new adidas were 2 for 2 tonight (I was about 1 for 10).

I have new shoes. And as you may well know, when you get new shoes you can run faster and jump higher than ever before, and you have super powers like ever before. I can't wait till my next game. – 10 year old Dan.

New balance has been the shoe of choice for me…good stability, a bazillion width options and “torsion” control so that I don’t roll my ankles or tear my “new” ACL! Glad you found a good one. Now if I can just find a shoe that will make me actually put them on and USE them at the gym I’m paying for every month and not going to… That would be a powerful shoe! :-)
